Pursuing Your Purpose

Excerpt From Rev Edmund Chan Preaching
"Polycrisis" - first coined in 1970 by economist and historian Adam Toose. A polycrisis is not just multiple crisis, but multiple crises converging to form a perfect storm. Polycrisis, as happening in the world now, will create chaos if our lives.
Polycrisis in our lives can be caused by 3 false equations, a great deception:
a) Performance + Accomplishments = Identity
b) Status + Acquisition = Security
c) Appearance + Admiration = Integrity
Are these the objectives and purposes we are pursuing?
"For the first time in my life I began to ask those uncomfortable, penetrating questions. What's my purpose? What am I passionate about? What's my calling? And that all-encompassing question: Why do I exist? All this led me to one clear and unequivocal conclusion - My purpose is life was not to live for myself but to live for something greater." A High Impact Life by Pete Ochs.
In Matthew 4:19: "And he said to them, 'Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.'"
1. Ignite your Passion - "follow me"
It is a privilege to follow Christ. Peter and his brother followed Jesus immediately when called.
Follow me is a term for apprenticeship and allegiance. It's not just to follow him wherever he goes. They release all their work and ownership and gave themselves into his authority.
What is the chaos we live with? Don't try to fix everything at once. Do it one at the time. A step at a time. Learn to get help. Do the first thing first - what is important to God.
We are not able to tell ourselves what we are created for. We follow jesus to know what we are created for.
2. Learn the Pathway - "I will make you"
Moses relied on God for His life purpose. David defeated Goliath trusting God.
The passion must be ignited with his pathway, which is divine enabling.
God can enable us if we are willing. I can't, God can. In God I can. Our best is not good enough. We need to learn the pathway of divine enabling.
We follow first, then He will change you.
3. Live The Purpose - "be fishers of men."
A higher purpose of transformation. You will see a wider horizon. You will live for what really matters.
God won't ask what car you drive, but how many people you gave a ride. God won't ask about your house, but how many people you host.
What have you done with jesus whom he has sent? Have you ignited the passion, have you learn the pathway, have you live your purpose?
Conclusion
What do we pursue? Is my purpose in life aligned with the kingdom narrative? Our pursue for material things worth nothing in the real world -the kingdom world.
I've turned my back upon the world
With all its idle pleasures,
And set my heart on better things,
On higher, holier treasures;
No more its glitter and its glare,
And vanity shall blind me;
I've crossed the separating line,
and left the world behind me.
- "I've turned my back upon the World"
