Our "Job" is God's Ministry

Our "Job" is God's Ministry

Hi all, something hit me during Ps Barney's preaching. (No, not a brick).

Sometimes we look down on ourselves because we are not part of God's ministries like missions, outreach, teaching, counselling, new life service, or music. We feel guilty because all we do is secular work. We wish we have enough "time" to do church ministries.

However, Ps Barney reminded us that secular work IS one of His ministries! This ministry is a ministry in pastoring & praying (Priest), in Godly leadership (Prince), and conduct ourselves with integrity and truth (Prophet).

If we believe our work is a ministry called by God, then we can shift our mindset to stop thinking of work as "secular" but work as a "spiritual" service to God.

Just as in any ministries, we can be a good minister, or a bad one with the wrong purpose and wrong motivation. This is especially true in our "work", where we think that the purpose and motivation has nothing to do with God - we do it to survive and to make money only. This is a Satanic delusion to make us think that way. After all, unbelievers are also doing the same "secular" work, so why should there be any different for Christians?

Yesterday, Edward ask the question, what do we think is "success" to us. Most of us relate success to being successful in our work, in one way or another.  I shared that our definition of success is the same thing that we pray for every night. For me, I always pray for God's help me in achieving my KPIs, for customers to favor my team, and for my company to do well. Of course, I also pray for safety for my family and recovery for my brethren and friends who are ill or injured, but mostly it is about my career. That defines my "success". What do you pray for every night?

Going forward, I need to change my prayer to pray for my colleagues and to pastor them, to lead wisely and humbly, and to conduct myself in integrity and in God's truth.  As for my KPI, customers, and bosses - yes they are important and it's not wrong to pray for them, but these are just by-product of my obedience to God's calling in the "work" ministry, and I have to leave them in His control.

Please pray that God will help me to do so.
