Building the Spiritual Temple (1 Chr 22:1-16)

"David prepared large quantities of iron to make the nails for the doors of the gates and for the clamps, and more bronze than could be weighed; and timbers of cedar logs beyond number, for the Sidonians and Tyrians brought large quantities of cedar timber to David. David said, “My son Solomon is young and inexperienced, and the house that is to be built for the LORD shall be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all lands. Therefore now I will make preparation for it.” So David made ample preparations before his death."  (1 Chr 22:3-5)


1 Chr 22:1-16 speaks of the last acts of David, where he made everything ready so that Solomon, his son and heir to the throne, can build a magnificent temple unto the Lord.  David provided Solomon with unlimited supply of building materials, design and helps.


In the same way, our Lord Jesus has given us everything to build His Church, the spiritual temple. Through His work and death, God has provided his unlimited Grace to each of us,  and His Spirit and His Word for our instructions. 

While Solomon's temple were build with timber and stones, the spiritual temple of Chris is made from living stones -  ourselves - with Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building,  fitted together into a holy temple in the Lord,  in whom we are also built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit (Ephesians 2:20-22)

We are the builders and we are also the materials! 

Pray that we are both a committed builder and willing materials for His temple.  The work started before us and will go on after us.  Pray for the next generation that they will continue the work,  and may we leave a legacy as David did.

“Now, my son, the LORD be with you that you may be successful, and build the house of the LORD your God just as He has spoken concerning you. “Only the LORD give you discretion and understanding, and give you charge over Israel, so that you may keep the law of the LORD your God. “Then you will prosper, if you are careful to observe the statutes and the ordinances which the LORD commanded Moses concerning Israel. Be strong and courageous, do not fear nor be dismayed. (1 Chr 22:11-13)

Be a Legacy Builder (1 Cor 3:5-15)

Legacy Builders 1) Invest in long term results. (v10) Paul pioneered the Corinthian church but Apollos built on it. In Paul's mind, it is never about himself. With the limited time spent in that place, he wants to build a Legacy.  When leave the church, what are we leaving behind. 2) Invest in eternity in mind. (v13-15) 3) Invest and build with their best resources. (v10-13) God is looking at the motivation from your heart. You can build with gold or straw. Gold is when you serve with love; straw is building with fame from others.  We are limited with time, energy, and money.  Three types of Giving: - Loose Change Giving  - Budget Giving  - Faith Giving  Your will should include giving to Christian ministries. 4) invest with or through the holy spirit. Aaron Implicated With Moses' Disobedience (Numbers 20)

  I Just read Numbers 20. It is a very very sad chapter. Miriam and Aaron died, Moses was prohibited from going into the promise land. The people rebelled again, and didn’t learn the lessons of their fathers. But what was saddest for me is that God hold Aaron accountable for what Moses did. The short story was that Moses strike the rock twice, when God told him to speak to it so that water will come out (v8, v11). 1 Cor 10:4 said that the rock symbolizes Christ, and he only need to be “strike” once only, when he completed the redemption work at his crucifixion and resurrection. And this already happen in Exodus 17:6, where Moses strike the rock as God told him to do so. So now, all we need to do is speak to Jesus and ask for the Holy Spirit (symbolized by the water pouring out from the rock). However, Moses ruined God's purpose to demonstrate the redemption plan.
